Role of Vitreous Potassium Level in Postmortem Interval Estimation
Background: A consistent rise in the level of vitreous potassium, commencing shortly after death and continuing for 125 hours has been known for 40 years and recommended for the estimation of the time since death. Aim: To find out the Potassium level in vitreous humor samples taken from the medicolegal autopsy cases and to determine its correlation with the known postmortem interval. Methods: I...
متن کاملEstimation of Postmortem Interval Using Arthropod Development and Successional Patterns.
Insects are frequently the first organisms to arrive at a dead body. By their activities they begin a biological clock that will allow for an estimation of the postmortem interval (PMI). In this publication, the two general approaches to estimation of the PMI using entomological data are reviewed: (a) use of individual species developmental patterns; and (b) use of arthropod succession data. Re...
متن کاملSadness as an integral part of depression
Sadness is considered by numerous authors to be a core symptom of depression. Currently, many arguments exist for its particular importance in depressed patients. Sadness makes up part of the various definitions of the depressive syndrome, even if its presence is not required for diagnosis. Furthermore, it is closely linked to the other depressive symptoms, and has prognostic value, in particul...
متن کاملEstimation of postmortem interval using the data of insulin level in the cadaver׳s blood
An assessment of levels of Insulin in cadaveric fluids, to estimate the postmortem interval (PMI) was carried out. To profile postmortem changes of Insulin, it was extracted at different intervals i.e. (0, 3, 6, 12, 24 h), from the heart of 22 human cadavers. The cases included were the subjects of accidental deaths without any prior history of disease and their exact time of death was known. I...
متن کاملEfficacy of entomological method in estimation of postmortem interval: a comparative analysis.
Sixteen insect-infested cadavers were examined and analysed to evaluate the reliability of the entomological method in estimation of time elapsed since death, in relation to other medico-legal approaches. The entomological method was found statistically more reliable and superior when compared to other prevalent methods.
